Industry & trade associations
Industry and trade groups perform many functions,
among which are: to promote establish and promote standards for an industry;
to promote an industry through public
awareness; and, in some cases, to lobby governments on behalf of the industry.
Typically, industry and trade groups are made up of corporate members, while
professional and scientific societies are made up of individuals, although
the distinction is sometimes a fuzzy one.
